Would You Like to Be Published in SchoolArts Magazine?

Would you like to be published in SchoolArts Magazine?

Each volume year of SchoolArts Magazine is based on an overarching theme or big idea. For example, for 2013-2014, we focused on the Next Generation Visual Arts Standards, with a different component each month. This coming year, 2014-2015, we are using Studio Habits of Mind as the overarching big idea and a different component each month. These are Develop Craft, Engage & Persist, Envision, Express, Observe, Reflect, Stretch & Explore, and Understand the Art World.

Since these are 8 in number and we have 9 issues, the 9th theme will be Design to correlate with the theme of the 2015 NAEA Convention in New Orleans, The Art of Design. This theme is focused on the design of objects and design thinking. Please consider post this a call for entries for articles that fit with any of these themes.

As you can see, the themes are meant to be very broad. We, as always, need articles for each issue for Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, and High School. We also work 4 months ahead so articles need to be sent in time to be considered. You can find our writers guidelines at www.schoolartsonline.com. One major requirement is high quality photographs of student work, either 300 dpi or 1 MB. Most articles are 500-800 words.

An easy way to start writing is with a ClipCard for SchoolArts. These require only one image and about 150 words in a standard format, shown below. Each issue we have one for early childhood, one for elementary, one for middle school, and one for high school.

Why should you write for SchoolArts? Having an article published demonstrates your professionalism and serves as a wonderful advocacy tool for your art program. You can also use your article as a handout at conferences and workshops. You will also be paid for your article, receive additional copies, and get a free subscription. Still have questions?
