On the Road Again to Santa Fe

It is time to head for Santa Fe again, as our SchoolArts/CRIZMAC Celebrating Pueblo Art and Culture seminar starts on Wednesday. In looking through photos of previous seminars, it was fun to recognize like-minded spirits who are now our good friends. Some of our attendees have returned for additional summers (which is one reason we like to offer different experiences each year) and some have traveled with us elsewhere. It doesn't matter if you come to our seminars alone - you will not be alone for long.

David, in the background here, and his wife Ingrid just went to Alaska with us in May and will be meeting us in Santa Fe. Jamie, in the front, and her husband ran into another person who was in Santa Fe with us, at a museum in Peru (see what I mean about like-minded spirits)!

Tom, the guy in the back on the right, is joining us for the 3rd time, I think, this summer.

Our clay experience for this seminar was with Camilla Trujillo. She brought clay she had gathered and mixed herself.

This upcoming week Dawning Pollen Shorty will be bringing us clay to work with from Taos and will spend a day with us. Later in the seminar we will all go to Pollen's grandmothers house to fire the work in a traditional firing.

One of our goals for these seminars is to provide experiences that would be difficult or impossible to do just coming to Santa Fe on your own. We also want you to hear and learn directly from the actual artists.

Next year we are considering not offering our Santa Fe seminars. Maybe we will skip a year or go somewhere else. Where would you like to go? What would you like to learn? We are open to suggestion!
