Postmodern Icons by Marion Martinez

One of the great joys for me of the seminars I lead in Santa Fe every summer is meeting and working with outstanding artists. Marion Martinez is an artist we have worked with many times as her work is quite unique. She presented at our Folk Art Extravaganza this year and we hope to bring her back next summer.  Marion makes icons from used computer parts with imagery influenced by Hispanic traditions. She leads workshops for schools and other groups where she shares her techniques and materials. You can see more of our work with Marion from an earlier year here in a PowerPoint. You can also contact Marion at marionsart@cybermesa.com.

Trina, Marion, and Nancy

Participants use the materials and tools that Marion brings.

Participants in the workshops can make as many individual pieces as they like.

Marion brings all the materials and tools needed for the workshop.
She only uses computer parts that are safe to handle.

Most pieces are glued together with hot glue.
We only had to supply hot glue guns, hot glue sticks, and power strips.

Participant work.

Another participant piece.

Join us next summer for Folk Art Extravaganza in Santa Fe in July to meet and work with Marion!
