Yesterday I was in San Antonio to present teacher training for Davis Publications' digital textbooks and had time to see a moving exhibit, Trees of Life. Works by Veronica Castillo and Kathy Sosa are on display in “Trees of Life: Cultura, Tradición e Inovación,” an exhibit at the Texas A&M University-San Antonio Centro de Artes in the Mercado in downtown San Antonio.

The exhibit also features antique pieces by Mexican folk art masters to show how trees of life have evolved over time. The two women each curated their own contributions to the show. This was a perfect paring of artworks: Castillo creates fantastic, detailed sculptural trees of life, and Sosa paints gloriously colored paintings of women with fantastic trees of life that extend above and beyond their heads. You can learn more about the exhibit here.
